Daniel B. Zwirn is Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Arena Investors, LP and Arena Finance Company Inc. From 2009 through 2015, Mr. Zwirn co-founded or re-established several financial businesses including Applied Data Finance, a consumer finance company; Herald National Bank, an OCC-regulated commercial lender; Lantern Endowment Partners, a special situation lending fund manager; North Mill Capital, an asset-based lender; and North Mill Equipment Finance, an equipment lessor. Previously, Mr. Zwirn founded and managed the business of D. B. Zwirn & Co., a $6 billion alternative investment firm of which he was Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer. In addition, from 2001 to 2004, Mr. Zwirn was Managing Director and Head of the Special Opportunities Group of Highbridge Capital Management, LLC. Before that, he served as Founder and Group Head of the Special Opportunities Group of MSD Capital, L.P., the private investment firm of Michael Dell. He is or has been a member of The Council on Foreign Relations (Term) and The Young Presidents Organization and serves or has served on the Board of Trustees of the Brookings Institution, the Leadership Council of the Robin Hood Foundation, the Board of Trustees of New York’s Public Theater (Treasurer), the Barnard College Board of Trustees, and the Executive Board of the Jerome Fisher Program in Management & Technology at the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Zwirn received an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School in 1998, a B.S. in Economics in Accounting, Finance and Corporate Control (self-designed), cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business in 1993, and a B.A.S. in Computer Science, cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania’s Moore School of Electrical Engineering in 1993.
